Welcome to ElNinoLive. By using this website, its data feeds or its embeddable widget (together, "the Service"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Informational purposes only

The Service exists to inform and educate. Everything on it — data, charts, forecasts, analyses, regional and market guides — is provided for general informational purposes and is not professional advice of any kind. It is not meteorological consulting, not emergency-management guidance, not financial, investment, trading, insurance or agricultural advice, and not a substitute for any of them.

Climate and weather forecasts are inherently probabilistic and uncertain. Seasonal outlooks describe shifted odds, not guaranteed outcomes, and can be revised substantially month to month. For decisions involving safety of life or property, rely on official warnings from your national meteorological and emergency services. For decisions involving money, consult qualified professionals.

Third-party data

Our numbers derive from third-party sources — principally NOAA and NASA — as documented on the data page. Those agencies do not endorse this site. Upstream data can lag, change format, contain errors or become unavailable; when it does, the Service may display cached snapshots, clearly labeled. We work to present data faithfully but provide no warranty of accuracy, completeness or timeliness for any information on the Service.

Acceptable use

You agree not to: access the Service or its data feeds at abusive request rates or in ways designed to degrade it; misrepresent our charts or data — including presenting modified versions as ours or ours as an official government product; use the Service in any unlawful way; or remove attribution from embedded widgets.

Light, reasonable programmatic use of the public JSON endpoints is welcome with caching and attribution to the underlying NOAA sources; commercial or high-volume use requires our agreement (see the contact page).

Intellectual property

Our original text, design, charts and code are © ElNinoLive. You may quote reasonable excerpts with attribution and a link. The underlying measurement data originates from US government sources and is public domain; our value is in the collection, parsing and presentation.

Widget embedding

The status widget may be embedded free of charge on the condition that the "Powered by" attribution link remains visible, unmodified and clickable. We may change or discontinue the widget, and may ask any site to remove it, at our discretion.

Advertising and affiliate disclosure

The Service carries advertising and clearly marked affiliate links; pages containing affiliate links display a disclosure. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Advertisements and affiliate placements are not endorsements, and sponsors have no influence over editorial content. See the privacy policy for the data side.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. ElNinoLive and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages arising from use of, or inability to use, the Service — including decisions made in reliance on its content. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid to use the Service (which is zero for standard use).

Governing law
